"A life without love, no matter how many other things we have, is an empty, meaningless one" is a quote by Leo Buscaglia.
Do you remember the movie "It's a Wonderful Life" starring James Steward? A guardian angel is sent to show a frustrated stressed out businessman what life would have been like if he had never been born. Turns out that life would have been really bad for the townspeople if he had never been born.
Well imagine a world without prayer. It would be a pretty bleak, dark world.
Isaiah 29: 13 "The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught.""
For 400 years God was silent. During that time between the Old and the New Testament there were false prophets. Yet there was something happening; God was preparing for the arrival of Christ.
Isaiah 9:2-3 and 6 - 7 "The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. 3 You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, as warriors rejoice when dividing the plunder." 6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this."
John 1:1-5 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.2 He was with God in the beginning.3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."
There is hope for those who trust in Jesus. Jesus is our hope.
